Instructions

This real Italian pasta recipe is a delightful, authentic dish that is perfect for a quick and delicious dinner. With a simple tomato sauce and classic Italian flavors, you'll feel like you're dining in Italy. Follow the step-by-step instructions below to create a mouthwatering pasta dish that will transport your taste buds straight to the heart of Italy.

Step 1: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Once boiling, add 1 pound of your preferred pasta (spaghetti, fettuccine, or penne) and cook according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain the pasta, reserving 1 cup of pasta water for later use.

Step 2: In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of extra-virgin olive oil over medium heat. Add 2 cloves of minced garlic and cook for 1-2 minutes, until fragrant.

Step 3: Add one 28-ounce can of crushed San Marzano tomatoes, 1 teaspoon of dried basil, 1 teaspoon of dried oregano, and ½ teaspoon of crushed red pepper flakes. Stir to combine and bring the sauce to a simmer.

Step 4: Lower the heat and let the sauce simmer for 10-15 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.

Step 5: Add the cooked pasta to the skillet with the sauce. Toss the pasta in the sauce to coat it evenly, adding the reserved pasta water as needed to adjust the consistency of the sauce.

Step 6: Serve the pasta in bowls, garnished with freshly grated Parmesan cheese and chopped fresh basil.
