This Italian Mozzarella and Tomato Salad is a refreshing and delicious Caprese-style salad perfect for a light appetizer or side dish. With minimal ingredients and a quick preparation, this salad showcases the vibrant flavors of fresh tomatoes, creamy mozzarella, and aromatic basil. Follow the step-by-step instructions below to create a beautiful and mouthwatering salad that's perfect for any occasion.

Step 1: Start by rinsing and drying 3 large ripe tomatoes and a bunch of fresh basil leaves. Slice the tomatoes into ¼-inch thick rounds and set aside.

Step 2: Take 8 ounces of fresh mozzarella cheese and cut it into ¼-inch thick slices.

Step 3: On a large serving platter, arrange the tomato and mozzarella slices in an alternating pattern, slightly overlapping each other.

Step 4: Tuck whole or torn basil leaves in between the tomato and mozzarella slices.

Step 5: In a small bowl, whisk together 3 tablespoons of extra-virgin olive oil, 1 tablespoon of balsamic vinegar, salt, and freshly ground black pepper to taste.
